Florida Vacation

I have been reading personal finance blogs for a little bit now and I don't hear much mention of people vacationing. Consumerism Commentary is going on one pretty soon and Jonathan over at MyMoneyBlog travels some, but that's about it. If I've left anyone out I apologize. As the post title suggests, the wife and I are going to Florida this year. wwooooohooooooo :)

I think that with all the budgeting, saving and goal setting that we do as responsible adults, we tend to forget about just having fun. I mean we are budgeting how much to spend on the vacation and we did set a target price that we wanted to spend in total so we didn't go too crazy :)

I think especially for new parents (we are not taking the baby since she will be too young to enjoy anything) this is essential. Just for some down time, not having to worry about work or school or even cleaning the house will help recharge the batteries and help us be more productive. This will also help the piglet because I'm sure being away from her for 9 days will cause her to spoil her beyond belief once we get back.

This will be our first vacation alone, all future vacations will be taken with the little princess. The whole trip for 9 days will come out to about $1,200 for the both of us, spending money will be about $1,000. So roughly $2,200 for a 9 day trip to the land of Mickey Mouse is a pretty good deal. Yes this money could have been used towards the house down payment or even paying down my wife's student loan, but we think this will prove to be more beneficial for both of us. Again, it will help us be more productive and of course bring us closer, which will lead to a healthier marriage which of course leads to a healthier household. I think the wife especially could use a break since she deals with the cleaning and the bulk of the baby handling during the day. I help out with the cooking and the baby but she is the glue for our home. Gentlemen, an unhappy and overworked wife is not something to be messed with, learn to cook and suggest a vacation together-happy wife...happy home :)

I think everyone should have a "fun" account stashed somewhere, just for those days you feel you need to get away, or just have a nice dinner out with your hubby or bubby and not worry about how it effects the budget for the month or year. Start one today if you can, let me know if it helps or if it feels like just another bill.

I can't wait get on that plane with that beautiful woman of mine :)

Thanks for reading
I love you Baby

Travel and vacation is good for the soul. =)

I used to live right next to Mickey's empire. I hope you can avoid the hottest months, but if not, that's okay!

Yeah, and when you come back don't be surprised if the piglet (the PIGLET? how could you!!!) ignores you, cries, and refuses to come to you, and otherwise punishes you for not taking her with you (NO! don't take the baby!!!).
